Permanent weight loss requires a lifestyle change, not just a diet. Too many folks are focused on the immediate results rather than the long term maintenance. But that is the society we are living in. There is nothing wrong with getting fast results from your diet, but if the loss is not sustainable, what have you actually gained? Besides your weight.
The only way to have sustainable results is to make changes that you can live with from now on. Yo-yo dieting can lead to all types of physical, as well as emotional problems. We have to break this cycle forever. The absolute only way to break it, is with lifestyle changes. These changes do not have to be dramatic. This is where most all dieters fail. We all want overnight results, and this is perfectly natural. The problem is that over night results are gained with a price. What is it? Deprivation, all crash diets involve depriving yourself of one thing or another. This feeling leads us to go on a binge when we are off the diet.
Focusing on small changes that can be sustained over time is the real way to produce the lasting results we are looking for. A few things that can help are drinking water instead of sugary drinks. This does not mean that you cannot ever have a soda, but by substituting water instead you will save a couple hundred calories each time. This savings will add up. Try eating a healthy snack while you are cooking dinner, this will curb your appetite. This is only a couple of things, use your imagination and you will have plenty of ideas in no time.
