Eating or drinking even mildly acidic foods and beverages before using or during use of nicotine gum inhibits nicotine absorption into your bloodstream. It is recommended to wait 15 minutes after eating or drinking before using nicotine gum to be properly release and absorb nicotine through the lining of your mouth with maximum effect.

Can I use nicotine gum if I'm pregnant or nursing?

Firstly, smoking during pregnancy or nursing is harmful for your child's health and it is recommended that you try to stop smoking without using any nicotine replacement aids. Nicotine gum is however believed believed to be safer than smoking, although the risks to your child are not fully known. Please consult your local health care provider before using nicotine gum in this situation.

How long will the nicotine stay in my blood or urine?

Trace amounts of nicotine can be detected in blood and urine for several hours, but it should be gone by 48 hours. However, if you are being tested for nicotine, there is a metabolite of nicotine, called cotinine, which can be detected in blood or urine for as long as 7 to 10 days after your last exposure to nicotine.
