Nicotrol Gum - 2mg Mint

1 pack of Nicotrol Gum = 105 pieces.

Nicotrol 2mg MINT Gum is a rebranded form of Nicorette Gum, which means that it is the same gum as Nicorette, manufactured by the same company, but under a different brand. Nicotrol 2mg MINT is a nicotine polacrilex gum intended to aid smoking cessation by reducing nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms. The nicotine is absorbed into the blood stream through the lining of the mouth when the gum is chewed. Nicotrol 2mg MINT Gum contains approximately one third less nicotine than a cigarette, and allows you to avoid the harmful physical and chemical effects associated with smoking. The recommended minimum length of treatment is three months. You can follow the recommended 12-week dosage program, or you can use the gum as needed. Chewing a piece of Nicotrol 2mg MINT gum at the onset of nicotine cravings should alleviate nicotine cravings and/or withdrawal symptoms. Common symptoms of nicotine withdrawal include mood swings, mild depression, trouble sleeping or concentrating, irritability and anxiety. Other physical symptoms may include headaches, sweating or intestinal discomfort. Each box contains 105 pieces of gum.

Why Use Nicotrol Gum (2mg Mint)?

Cigarettes contain approximately 4,000 toxic chemicals. In addition to the carcinogenic substances emitted through cigarette smoke, high levels of CO2 (carbon dioxide) force your heart to work harder by drastically reducing the oxygen-carrying capacity of your blood. A few of the major health risks associated with smoking include heat attack, stroke, cancer, and lung disease. Pregnant women who smoke increase the risk of birth complications to their unborn child. Children exposed to second-hand cigarette smoke experience an increased incidence of asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, and colds than smoke-free children. You can avoid these unnecessary health risks, and avoid severe nicotine withdrawal, by choosing a gradual and managed nicotine withdrawal program.

Recommended Dosage

We recommend the 2mg strength gum if you smoke less than 25 cigarettes per day. You DO NOT need to chew the same number of gum pieces as the number of cigarettes you used to smoke. Most people find they can cease using the gum after six months, but some heavy smokers choose to continue using the gum in order to prevent relapse. We recommend that you consult your physician if you plan on using this product for more than six months. The table below illustrates a 12-week dosage program that allows you to gradually wean yourself off the gum.

Week 1-6: 1 piece every 1 to 2 hours
Week 7-9: 1 piece every 2 to 4 hours
Week 10-12: 1 piece every 4 to 8 hours.

We recommend that you do not exceed the maximum usage of 24 pieces per day of the 2mg gum.

How to use Nicotrol Gum (2mg Mint)

Nicotrol 2mg MINT gum is NOT a chewing gum. To prevent gastrointestinal discomfort or nausea we recommend using the "park and chew" technique. Place the gum in your mouth and bite slowly and deliberately about 15 times, or until a strong taste or tingling sensation is felt. These sensations indicate nicotine release. Stop chewing and place the gum between your cheek and gums. When the intensity of these sensations decreases, begin to chew again. Repeat this cycle of "park and chew" for about 30 minutes, or until the peppery taste and tingling sensation subside.

Warnings and Cautions

Nicotrol gum should not be used by children, persons under 18 years of age, or by nonsmokers. You should not smoke while using Nicotrol gum, as you would increase the risk a nicotine overdose. Do not use this gum if you are pregnant, intend to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. In rare cases, chewing Nicotrol gum may cause damage to dentures and dental bridges. The gum is not recommended if you have dentures. Please consult with your doctor or pharmacist before starting a program with Nicotrol gum if you are taking any form of prescription medicine, or if you suffer from any form of heart or vascular disease, diabetes, liver or kidney disease or have an overactive thyroid condition. Swallowing the nicotine contained in the gum may aggravate other conditions, such as active oesophagitis, mouth inflammation, gastritis, or peptic ulcers.

The most common side effects associated with Nicotrol gum are headaches, dizziness, and insomnia. These symptoms are also associated with nicotine withdrawal, and may be the result of an insufficient transfer of nicotine. Over-chewing the gum, or chewing the gum too quickly may cause other side effects, such as nausea, hiccups, abdominal pain, and mouth or throat irritation. The consumption of excess Nicotrol Gum increases the risk of a nicotine overdose. The symptoms of this condition include excessive sweating, muscle weakness, dizziness, circulatory problems, nausea, and/or vomiting, palpitations, diarrhea, and heartburn. While cases of nicotine overdose are rare, you should consult a doctor immediately if you develop these symptoms.

If too much Nicotrol Gum is used in a day, the user may run the risk of an overdose of nicotine. Symptoms of this condition include excessive sweating, muscle weakness, dizziness, circulatory problems, nausea and/or vomiting, palpitations, diarrhea and heartburn. Cases of nicotine overdose on NRT are rare but if you do develop these symptoms you should consult you doctor.
